I was a friendly child, so I’ve been told. So friendly that in fact I once went up to a woman as a child and said, “Hello, my name is Kristin and I’m 4 years old and I weigh 36 lbs. What’s your name, how old are you and how much do you weigh:?” I’m paraphrasing but I have been told I asked age and weight. Yeah. Friendly, right? And totally mortifying for my family. I’d been taught to be nice to others, but I hadn’t quite mastered social etiquette. I still struggle with that, but that isn’t my point. I just thought I’d make you laugh, or at least give my mom a walk down Memory Lane. The next time your kid does something slightly embarrassing, be grateful they don’t ask anyone’s age and weight.
My point is that I’ve always wanted and tried my best to make friends with people. I haven’t always been successful, and throughout high school I rarely succeeded because I felt awkward. However, blogging has brought an entirely new world of people to me, and I’ve met some of the most wonderful people through various online mediums. I met my friend Rachael, owner and author of Empowering Mommy, through a blog giveaway!
You may already know Rachael through Money Saving Tips for the Keeper at Home. She’s been in my blog roll, whenever I’ve had one, as long as I’ve known her. Nothing has changed, and you’ll still get your newsletters but you will probably want to update your bookmarks and make sure that your e-mail will accept the newsletters and not send them to your spam box.
Rachael’s mission at Empowering Mommy hasn’t changed, but it more aptly describes what she’s always wanted to do: give moms the tools they need to become the best keepers of their homes as possible. Rachael has two adorable kiddos and a husband, and keeps her home running amazingly smooth while doing so many things for her blog, her community and her family that it just amazes me. If there’s anyone I want to learn from, it’s Rachael.
Rachael does tons of product reviews of childrens’ products, so if there’s a product you aren’t sure is right for your kids, head on over ot Empowering Mommy to see if Rachael has any insight. She also does many product reviews for non-mommy stuff like cleaners and perfumes, and othe fun things. I love to read her reviews. She usually holds some pretty awesome giveaways, too.
Empowering Mommy is a place where moms can go to do just that: empower themselves with knowledge to be the best home managers they can be. I’m not a mommy of the human kind…I have 2 teacup Chihauhuas. I still love to visit Rachael to see what’s new that day, or what new fun product she’s found. I can pass some of it on to friends and family without (gasp!) the internet so they can benefit from it.
Go visit my friend Rachael, and let her Empower you! She’s the sweetest person you’ll ever meet.

Aww…Kristin! I’m touched that you would feature my blog. It really touched my heart to see this – it means so much that you would honor me in this way.
I did laugh when you said my house runs smoothly! Please don’t come see my pile of dishes sitting in the sink right now
I have also loved reading your blog – I come by daily also to see what’s going on in your world. I have enjoyed getting to know you and am excited what the blogging world has for the both of us this year!
