The last 2 times we’ve gone to Kmart we have found some awesome deals! Our Kmart doesn’t have a full grocery department, just some dry goods including cereal, snacks and milk, and a few more things.
I don’t know if all Kmart stores do this but ours marks down their grocery items when they near just pass their expiration or sell-by dates. This is just for the shelf-stable, non-perishable items like cookies and crackers, and some juices.
Last week, we found multi-packs of Ritz sandwich crackers (the mini ones), multi-packs of Pringles Stix, and some other Quuaker snacks all marked down to $1 or less per box. We also found some Chex 100-calorie packs.
This week, we found several boxes of Capri Sun 100% juices drinks and their brand of apple juice for $0.70-$0.75 for 8 and 10-pack boxes.
The snacks were marked down only because their sell-by date is May 29, but even if they had reached that date or were a little past that date it would have been an awesome deal because these items don’t ruin. The sell-by date is just the date that the items wil be at their most fresh, not the date that they will no longer be good.
I actually hadn’t planned either Kmart trip so unfortunately I did not have my coupons with me. The deals were STILL too good to pass up but another 50% off would have been nice ya know?
Oh, and I would not buy the marked down refrigerated dairy items or meat simply because Kmart isn’t a grocery store and ‘Im honestly not sure how good the taste of their b rand of dairy items are anyway. I’m obviously not brand loyal and typically don’t mind store brands but if I’m trying them for the first time it won’t be when their not at their best.
I am getting my coupons organized this week if it kills me, and starting tonight I’m going to begin my Virtual Coupon Class and let you in on my progress as I go along with you to organize mine! It’s in horrible shape, so I’m starting over. I would have saved a fortune on those already dirt cheap items if I’d had my coupons with me. I will not complain because as I said they were already dirt cheap but I would have still saved another 50%!So here are the deals I would have gotten with coupons:
Chex 100-calorie packs (1o pouches per box)
$1/2 Chex Mix or Chex 100-Cal. Snack Mix 4/18 SS
$.50/1 Chex Mix orb Chex 100-Cal Snack Mix printable https://www.bettycrocker.com/coupons-promotions/coupons/default
Final Cost: 2 for $1 or $.50 each depending on coupon used
Pringles Stix $1
$0.50/1 Pringles Stix 5/23 RP
Final Cost: $0.50 each
I don’t know what your store does with it’s near-expiration or sell-by grocery items but I definitely recommend checking them out once or twice a week. Ours are kept on a rack near the back of the grocery department, which is just about 3 aisles of the store honestly. Typically their food is way overpriced but these deals are quite awesome! And you may want to ask if they will take coupons ont op of those prices. They should but may not considering how cheap the items already are. Also, watch how your items ring up!! Typically in our store the marked down price isn’t programmed into the register so it always comes up wrong. point it out to avoid having to wait in line again or hold up the rest f the line. Let’s just say I’ve learned that fromn experience…more than once.
So anyway I’m sorry for the long winded post just to tell you about a couple of great clearance prices but the bottom line is to keep some coupons with you and to check places like Kmart periodically once you know they have clearance on a regular basis!
